About Windy
Windy was born on April 4, 2006 in Wisconsin, as "Webshire Summer Wind." She had 98 full or half siblings and 6 puppies. In 2011, she moved from Connecticut to California with Dr. Jan. She was a beautiful, petite Golden Retriever with reddish-golden hair and a goofy personality.
Her favorite foods were green beans, apple sauce, and yogurt. She never met a treat she didn't like! Her favorite activities were rolling around in the grass and dancing. She had the gift of warming people's hearts with a single smile. Windy could walk for miles and sit at the park for hours, watching people and their pets.
When she was 10, her true talents came to light. With the strong bond she formed with Dr. Jan, Windy was able to sense danger when Dr. Jan was unable to sense it herself. Not a day passed that her kindness, loyalty, and beautiful smile went unseen. It is her spirit and her memory that inspire Windy's Corner.
About Dr. Jan
Dr. Jan graduated with two Bachelor's degrees, from Northwestern University and Northeastern Illinois University. She lived abroad during high school and worked in advertising in Chicago. In 2010, she received her veterinary degree from UC Davis and continued on to obtain a Master's degree in Preventive Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Jan has a passion for all animals, big and small. She especially enjoyed her experience working at dairies and with small ruminants. She has particular interests in infectious diseases, senior care, behavior, nutrition, avian medicine, and the One Health initiative. Since graduating from UC Davis, Dr. Jan has wanted to provide house call services to families looking for personal, one-on-one attention. She hopes to achieve a common goal of healthy, long-lasting, and comprehensive care for their pets.
At home, Dr. Jan has two dogs, Baymax and Guapo, and a new feline addition named George. Each day, she is reminded of how much Windy truly taught her about life.
